Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ The European Union has assured United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres of its full support. In this regard, European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General.
It is noteworthy that EU member states collectively contribute 22% of the UN’s funding, while — unlike the United States — the EU fully endorses a rules-based international order.
Following the meeting, EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas stated:
“We are marking 80 years of the United Nations. For decades, the UN has been the world’s common ground, a pillar of peace, security, cooperation, and multilateralism. The EU is proud to be one of its strongest supporters, working together for a better, safer, and more united future.”
