Crete, (Pervaiz Ahmed Mughal) __ Pakistan’s Ambassador to Greece, Mr. Amir Aftab Qureshi, held an important meeting with the Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, at the Governor’s office. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, boosting trade and economic relations, and addressing issues related to immigration.
During the meeting, Ambassador Qureshi highlighted Pakistan’s vast human resource potential and emphasized that Pakistani workers can play a vital role in several key sectors of the Greek economy — particularly agriculture, hospitality (tourism and hotel industry), and construction. He underlined that Pakistani workforce is hardworking, reliable, and well-trained, and can contribute significantly to meeting Greece’s labor market needs.
The Ambassador further conveyed that Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Diplomacy Division in Islamabad are fully committed to facilitating stronger ties between the two countries, especially in terms of labor mobility and workforce exchange.
Governor Arnaoutakis welcomed the Ambassador’s proposals, acknowledging that agriculture and tourism are the backbone of Crete’s economy and there is a growing need for skilled labor in these sectors. He expressed optimism that future cooperation between Greece and Pakistan will open new avenues of partnership and strengthen relations even further.
The meeting has been seen as a positive development for the Pakistani community in Greece, raising hopes for new opportunities through legal channels of employment.
