London, (Shahzad Ali) __ Councillor Raja Mohammad Aslam Khan, Leader of the Conservative Group on Luton Council, is highlighting the importance of responsible fireworks use in our community, expressing his concern over recent instances that have disrupted residents’ peace and well-being.
At a recent gathering at a local mosque, Councillor Raja Mohammad Aslam Khan acknowledged that many residents are becoming increasingly frustrated by the late-night fireworks, which disrupt their evenings and rest. He stressed that this issue extends beyond noise complaints, pointing out the potential distress that fireworks can cause for vulnerable individuals in our community, including older people, those with neurodivergent conditions, and pets.
“Fireworks can be a source of significant anxiety for many, and we must consider their impact on all members of our community,” Councillor Khan shared. He encouraged residents to actively report instances of misuse to local authorities, advocating for a collective approach to ensure public safety and harmony.
“We all have a role to play in addressing this concern with our local representatives and the police so that we can promote effective solutions. The safety and comfort of our community should always be our priority,” he stated.
Councillor Raja Mohammad Aslam Khan added: “Fireworks disturb shift workers, depriving them of sleep. It’s affecting people’s health and well-being. This anti-social behaviour is affecting everyone in the town. It’s about time we put an end to this. By creating an awareness and demanding better enforcement by the local authority and the police.”
Local community leaders and attendees of the mosque resonated with his message, emphasising the need for increased awareness and responsible behaviour regarding fireworks, especially during late hours. Together, they expressed their commitment to fostering a more considerate environment for everyone in Luton. In addition, members of parliament should be playing an active role in changing the legislation in the parliament to give the police greater powers and resources for enforcement
