Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ A study led by Dr. Asif Khoja at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has found that heating biomass together with coal can significantly reduce overall energy consumption while enhancing the production of cleaner fuel gas.
The research shows that an optimal biomass–coal blend increases hydrogen output, requires less energy input, and improves process efficiency. These improvements also contribute to lower emissions compared to conventional coal-based systems.
According to the study, co-heating biomass with coal offers a practical transition pathway toward lower-carbon energy systems, combining improved performance with meaningful environmental benefits.
