Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ Belgium’s Gambling Commission has launched an investigation after former football star Eden Hazard became an ambassador for the online betting platform Stake.

The 35-year-old former footballer announced his partnership with Stake on Thursday. However, the website is considered illegal in Belgium as it does not possess a valid license and is included on the regulator’s blacklist.

A spokesperson for the Belgian Gambling Commission said the investigation will examine whether Hazard’s promotion of the betting platform is aimed at targeting the Belgian market.

It is worth noting that advertising illegal gambling services is prohibited in Belgium.
