Bajaur,(Unib Rashid) __ Four civilians were killed and a five-year-old child seriously injured after mortar and artillery shells were reportedly fired from across the Afghan border into Pakistan’s Bajaur District on Saturday.
According to security sources, the attack occurred at around 3:30 pm in the Tabesta Letai area of Salarzai in Bajaur, located in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The shelling allegedly originated from across the border in Afghanistan and struck a residential house, resulting in civilian casualties.
The victims were identified as Sajid, Ayaz, Riaz and Muaz, who were reported to be real brothers. A five-year-old child was also critically injured in the incident.

Local residents strongly condemned the attack and expressed anger over the targeting of civilian areas. Security officials described the incident as a serious violation of international norms and humanitarian principles due to the deliberate targeting of civilians.
According to officials, Pakistani security forces have responded to the attack by targeting positions believed to be responsible for the shelling. The response is part of ongoing counter-terrorism operations aimed at dismantling militant networks and their support infrastructure in the border region.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored and further action will be taken to ensure the safety and security of civilians living in the border areas.
