The way of life in a region, food, social interactions, mannerisms, poetry, climate, sports, weddings, and other rituals are all elements of culture. Culture is also seen as a symbol of unity.
To keep Pakistan’s culture and traditions alive, a grand event was organized in Zurich, Switzerland, by renowned Pakistani businessman Saeed Ahmed to celebrate the Rasm-e-Henna (Henna Ceremony) of his only son, Abdul Wasay. The event was held in honor of both the Swiss and Pakistani communities.

Guests were welcomed with gol gappas and Bombay’s spicy papri. A large number of local Swiss and Pakistani families attended the event. The occasion not only showcased Pakistani traditions and culture but also actively promoted them.
The event, filled with vibrant colors and joy, saw Pakistani women and children dressed in traditional Eastern attire. By performing Pakistani wedding rituals on Swiss soil, the attendees felt a deep connection with their homeland.
The event began with dholki (traditional drum music) played by women, followed by traditional wedding songs and luddi dance, in which Swiss families also participated enthusiastically.
The Mehndi (henna) ceremony was performed, and Abdul Wasay friends expressed their strong bond by dancing to the rhythmic beats of the dhol (drum).
A special guest, singer Ishtiaq Butt from Germany, captivated the audience by performing songs in the legendary voice of Mohammed Rafi, adding a nostalgic charm to the evening.
For the attendees, a special menu featuring Pakistani, Italian, and Swiss cuisine was prepared.
At the end of the event, Saeed Ahmed and Abdul Wasay while speaking to Pakistan Today, shared that their business is linked to tourism, and they arranged this special event for their Swiss and Italian friends. Their aim was not only to promote Pakistan’s image but also to keep this beautiful culture alive for future generations.
