Pakistan Vows Stronger Global Cooperation Against Human Smuggling at Athens Workshop

Athens, Greece (Pervaiz Ahmad Mughal) __ An international workshop of high significance was held in Athens, the capital of Greece, bringing together government bodies, international organizations, and human rights experts from around the world. The primary focus of the event was to discuss strategies for tackling irregular migration, human smuggling, transnational crime, and to strengthen global cooperation in these areas.

The workshop saw participation from the Hellenic Police, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), prominent human rights organizations, and security and immigration agencies from various countries.

Pakistan was represented by a high-level five-member delegation from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), led by Additional Director Mr. Ahmad Rizwan. Also in attendance was Mr. Bilal Aslam Khan, an official from the Embassy of Pakistan in Greece, who joined the FIA delegation as part of Pakistan’s continued commitment to global collaboration on migration issues.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Ahmad Rizwan emphasized Pakistan’s determination to fight human smuggling in accordance with international law:

Pakistan is fully committed to fulfilling its responsibilities under international frameworks to combat human smuggling. All our actions are being carried out transparently, and we are enhancing cooperation with international organizations to eliminate this menace, he stated.

He further added that the FIA is taking strict action against human smuggling, forged documentation, and illegal immigration, and that international data sharing and joint intelligence efforts are being further strengthened to improve operational effectiveness.

Experts at the workshop stressed that tackling organized crimes like human smuggling requires collective international efforts, stronger cross-border collaboration, and real time information exchange. They called for unified strategies and closer cooperation among countries to dismantle trafficking networks.

The Athens workshop served as a reminder of the need for trust-based, sustained partnerships to effectively address complex transnational issues. Pakistan’s active participation reaffirmed its responsible global role in combating human trafficking and migration crimes.
