BRUSSELS/NEW YORK, (Unib Rashid) – Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to implementing its economic reform agenda during a meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in New York.

During the meeting, Pakistan expressed appreciation for the IMF’s continued support and acknowledged Georgieva’s personal role in strengthening the constructive partnership between Pakistan and the Fund.

The Pakistani side reaffirmed the government’s strong ownership of the reform agenda and its determination to remain committed to the ongoing reform process.

Despite regional conflict and external inflationary pressures, Pakistan is gradually moving from macroeconomic stabilization towards economic recovery, supported by improved fiscal discipline, stronger external buffers and growing investor confidence, the Pakistani side noted.

The meeting also covered Pakistan’s forthcoming IMF programme review and continued cooperation between the two sides to strengthen the country’s economic resilience and sustain the momentum of reforms.

The discussions underscored Pakistan’s focus on maintaining economic stability, advancing structural reforms and creating conditions for sustainable economic recovery.
