The progress comes as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its maritime sector as a key driver of economic growth, trade and foreign investment. More efficient ports are expected to support faster cargo movement, reduce trade-related costs and enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani exports in international markets.
The improved rankings also signal growing potential for Pakistan to capitalize on its strategic geographic location at the crossroads of major regional trade routes, particularly by expanding maritime connectivity with Central Asia, China, the Middle East and other international markets.
The performance of Karachi Port and Port Qasim is therefore being viewed as an encouraging development for Pakistan’s broader efforts to modernize its maritime infrastructure and establish the country as a more competitive regional trade and logistics hub.
