Pakistan Embassy Brussels Pays Tribute to Ambassador Munawar Saeed Bhatti in ‘From the Archives’ Series.

BRUSSELS, (Unib Rashid) – The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels has published a new feature in its “From the Archives” series, paying tribute to Ambassador Munawar Saeed Bhatti, who served as Pakistan’s Ambassador in Brussels from October 2012 to March 2014.

According to a post shared by the Embassy, Ambassador Bhatti’s tenure marked an important period in strengthening Pakistan’s relations with the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg. During his assignment, he placed particular emphasis on economic diplomacy, strategic engagement and strengthening institutional linkages with the three partners.

One of the major highlights of his tenure was Pakistan’s efforts toward securing GSP+ trade preferences with the European Union, which were achieved in 2013 following extensive diplomatic engagement. Through close interaction with relevant stakeholders in Brussels, Ambassador Bhatti played an important role in advancing Pakistan’s case for improved market access while highlighting the country’s commitment to international conventions concerning human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and good governance.

A distinguished diplomat, Ambassador Bhatti held several key positions during his career. He served as Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in India from 2003 to 2006 and as High Commissioner to New Zealand from 2006 to 2009.

He also headed the South Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on two occasions. During the devastating floods of 2010, he served as Pakistan’s National Focal Point for multilateral agencies, leading efforts to mobilize international assistance for the country during the crisis.

The Embassy said Ambassador Bhatti’s dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s national interests further strengthened its role as a bridge between Pakistan and the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg.

It described his contributions as an enduring part of Pakistan’s diplomatic history in Brussels, recognizing his role in advancing the country’s diplomatic, economic and institutional engagement with Europe.
