Kashmir Council EU and Embassy of Pakistan Hold Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir Event in Brussels.

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir (5 August), the Kashmir Council EU and the Embassy of Pakistan jointly organized a commemorative event at the European Press Club in Brussels. Speakers at the event strongly condemned India’s continued human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and criticized New Delhi’s unilateral decision to revoke the region’s special constitutional status. They also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.

The event, moderated by Imran Saqib, featured keynote addresses by Faisal Fayyaz, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan, and Ali Raza Syed, Chairman of Kashmir Council EU.

The speakers paid tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people despite what they described as ongoing repression by Indian authorities. They maintained that attempts to alter the demographic composition of the disputed territory would ultimately fail to erase the identity and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The participants reiterated their commitment to exposing the realities on the ground, promoting peace, justice, and human dignity, and ensuring that the voices of the Kashmiri people continue to reach the international community despite increasing pressure from India.

At the beginning of the ceremony, messages from Pakistan’s leadership were read out, reaffirming the country’s steadfast political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

The speakers also urged the international community to play a more proactive role in facilitating a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with international law and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Prominent Kashmiri leader Khalid Joshi also addressed the gathering. While strongly criticizing India’s policies in Kashmir, he expressed concern over the political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as an attempt to undermine the long history of the Kashmir freedom movement and the sacrifices made by its people.

He emphasized that Pakistan remains the only effective advocate of the Kashmiri cause on the international stage and said the Kashmiri people would never forget Pakistan’s support. At the same time, he appealed to authorities in Azad Kashmir to resolve political differences through dialogue rather than allegations of treason.

The event concluded with the screening of a documentary highlighting the historical background of the Kashmir dispute and its key developments.
