Pakistan’s Seafood Exports Hit Record High, Crossing $500 Million

KARACHI/BRUSSELS, (Unib Rashid) – Pakistan’s seafood industry has achieved a major economic milestone as national seafood exports surpassed the historic $500 million mark within the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, reflecting strong growth in the country’s maritime and export sectors.

Welcoming the achievement, Asim Abrar, Chief Executive Officer of Seagreen Enterprises and Chairman of the Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority operating under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, described the development as the highest seafood export figure ever recorded during this period of a fiscal year.

He credited the success to the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs led by Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, along with the Marine Fisheries Department, the Korangi Fisheries Harbor Authority, seafood exporters, and other regulatory institutions.

Abrar said improved collaboration between public institutions and the private sector has played a key role in enhancing Pakistan’s seafood export capacity and strengthening its footprint in international markets.

He expressed optimism that with one month still remaining in the fiscal year, Pakistan could potentially reach the $600 million seafood export target.

Industry experts believe the continued rise in seafood exports is likely to attract fresh investment into the sector, create employment opportunities, boost foreign exchange reserves, and contribute to broader economic growth.

Calling the achievement a proud moment for Pakistan’s maritime economy, Abrar praised the collective commitment of exporters, regulatory bodies, and government institutions for helping the country achieve a historic breakthrough in the seafood industry.
