Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called on European member states to accelerate the adoption of renewable sources and clean energy such as nuclear power to ensure electricity supply across Europe, describing it as key to security and stability.

She stated that since the beginning of the Middle East conflict, Europe’s fuel import bill has increased by €25 billion without receiving an additional drop of oil. She emphasized the urgent need to reduce excessive dependence on fossil fuels.

Von der Leyen reiterated that promoting renewable and nuclear energy is essential to power Europe and strengthen its long-term security and resilience.
