Global Leaders Welcome Iran–US Ceasefire, Appreciate Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role.

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) — Following statements from top European Union institutions, a group of world leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez have issued a joint statement on the temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

In their joint statement, the leaders welcomed the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant step toward de-escalation. They expressed gratitude to Pakistan and all partners involved for facilitating the agreement.

The leaders emphasized that the immediate priority should be to pursue dialogue in the coming days to achieve both an immediate and lasting end to the conflict, stressing that this can only be accomplished through diplomatic means. They encouraged swift progress toward a concrete negotiated settlement.

The statement further noted that such a resolution is vital for the protection of Iran’s civilian population and for ensuring regional security. It also highlighted that continued diplomacy could help prevent a global energy crisis.

Reaffirming their support for ongoing diplomatic efforts, the leaders stated that they remain in close contact with the United States and other partners. They also called on all parties, including those in Lebanon, to adhere to the ceasefire.

Additionally, they underscored their commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, recognizing its critical importance for global trade and energy security.
