Pakistan Welcomes Iran–U.S. Ceasefire and Announces ‘Islamabad Talks’ to Advance Lasting Peace.

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has warmly welcomed the agreement between the United States and the Iran, along with their respective partners, to implement an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire across the Middle East, including in Lebanon.

In a statement shared publicly, Prime Minister Sharif expressed profound appreciation for the leadership of both countries for demonstrating wisdom and statesmanship at a critical moment. The ceasefire follows intensive diplomatic engagement aimed at halting hostilities and creating space for dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Prime Minister noted that Pakistan had earlier urged all sides to allow diplomacy to proceed and had called for a temporary pause in hostilities to facilitate meaningful negotiations. The decision by the concerned parties to honor this call represents an encouraging step toward de-escalation and regional stability.

Welcoming the constructive spirit shown by all stakeholders, Prime Minister Sharif announced Pakistan’s readiness to facilitate further dialogue. He has invited delegations from the United States and Iran to Islamabad on 10 April 2026 to participate in the “Islamabad Talks,” aimed at negotiating a comprehensive and lasting settlement of outstanding issues.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed hope that the Islamabad Talks will build on the current momentum and help pave the way for sustainable peace, stability, and cooperation in the region. Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting diplomatic efforts that promote dialogue, mutual understanding, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
