London, (Shahzad Ali) __ Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPGK) and Labour MP Imran Hussain has stated that the group remains an essential platform for amplifying the voices of Kashmiris within the UK Parliament. He was addressing a delegation of the JKLF UK Zone Diplomatic Wing, which briefed him on the case of detained JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik and the latest political and human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation comprised Sardar Naseem Iqbal, Ali Asghar, Muhammad Soudagar, S.M. Ibrahim, Shakeel Jarral, Tahir Hussain, Nasser Ameen, and other office bearers.
The representatives of the JKLF emphasized ongoing human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir, the continued detention of Yasin Malik and other political prisoners, and the declining political environment. They urged the British Member of Parliament to raise these issues more forcefully in Parliament, underscoring that Kashmiris are entitled to an unconditional right to self-determination under the United Nations Charter. They also appealed to the United Kingdom and the international community to uphold their moral and legal responsibilities in achieving a peaceful and just resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

MP Imran Hussain reaffirmed his dedication to advocating for human rights in Kashmir, the condition of political prisoners, and the grievances of the Kashmiri people:
“Kashmir is not merely a bilateral issue. It is an international issue concerning a people’s freedom, dignity, and peace in South Asia. Its resolution is crucial for enduring regional stability.”
He urged the Kashmiri diaspora in the United Kingdom to increase their activism—similar to the Palestinian diaspora—in mobilizing younger generations and engaging their Members of Parliament to bolster political support for the Kashmir cause.
Hussain noted that during his tenure as Chair of the APPGK, he has consistently raised issues such as human rights abuses, communication blackouts in Azad Kashmir, the detention of political leaders including Yasin Malik, and the denial of fundamental rights on both sides of the Line of Control.
He also expressed full support for the demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee in Azad Kashmir.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the JKLF delegation presented MP Hussain with a briefing paper on Yasin Malik, a copy of their appeal to the international community, and a book titled “From Jammu & Kashmir to Europe” authored by Sardar Naseem Iqbal. The delegation congratulated him on his appointment as Chair of the APPGK and praised his ongoing advocacy for the rights and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
