London, (Shahzad Ali) __ Dr. Mohammad Faisal, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, emphasized that the Muslims of the subcontinent united to achieve Pakistan and that this spirit of unity is still needed today.
Speaking at a special ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in London to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day, Dr. Mohammad Faisal also commemorated Operation Baniyan Marsous, describing it as a symbol of national unity and resilience. He hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem and paid tribute to the founders who sacrificed for the country, noting that they secured a separate homeland for Muslims through collective determination.

“With the same spirit, the entire Pakistani nation, alongside our brave armed forces, defeated the enemy during Operation Baniyan Marsous,” he stated. “Our freedom is a debt to the martyrs and veterans that can never be repaid.”
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination at every forum and stressed the importance of unity among overseas Pakistanis in the UK. Praising the hard work and dedication of British Pakistanis, he noted their vital role in connecting Pakistan and Britain.
The High Commissioner highlighted the contributions of youth and overseas Pakistanis to Pakistan’s economic growth and announced that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would soon resume flight operations to the UK. He also referred to the launch of the Pakistan-UK Trade Dialogue, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade.

During the ceremony, Dr. Faisal presented the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) on behalf of the President of Pakistan to Commodore Jawad Khawaja, who currently serves as Defence and Naval Adviser at the Pakistan High Commission in London.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and included readings of special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan. A special prayer for the safety and prosperity of Pakistan was offered, and the celebrations featured national songs, music, and a children’s painting competition.
Later, Dr. Faisal, accompanied by his wife and guests, cut a cake to celebrate Independence Day. Diplomats, numerous community members, media representatives, and High Commission officials attended the event with their families.
