London, (Shahzad Ali) __ Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban, Coordinator of the Kashmir Solidarity Campaign in Luton, has announced that a large group from Luton will participate in a protest scheduled for August 5 outside the Indian High Commission in London.
The protest aims to oppose India’s actions in Kashmir and raise awareness about the events of August 5, 2019, when the Government of India revoked Article 370 of its Constitution. This article had granted special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir, effectively removing the region’s autonomy, including its own constitution and decision-making powers over laws related to residency and property rights.
The decision to revoke Article 370 was highly controversial and sparked widespread criticism internationally, particularly from Pakistan, the UN, and various human rights organizations. Kashmiri political leaders and civic groups also condemned the action as undemocratic and unilateral.
Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban shared that he has collected numerous signatures from members of the Kashmiri community in support of this protest. He noted that the signature campaign has received an overwhelming response, reflecting strong public support for the Kashmir cause.
Transport arrangements have been organized to facilitate maximum participation from Luton to London for the demonstration. “We are committed to continuing our peaceful, diplomatic, and political struggle for the freedom of Kashmir,” Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban stated.
He emphasized the importance of raising international awareness about the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir and urged the global community to stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of the region.
