Annual IPPA’s CME Session in Trim, Ireland, a Resounding Success

Trim, Ireland – The Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) session organized by the Irish Pakistani Professional Association (IPPA) on the 21st of October, 2023, at the Knightbrook Hotel, Dublin Road, Trim, was a resounding success. The event, led by Dr. Mustafa Mehmood, and Dr. Malik Maqsood Anwar, Co-Leads for IPPA’s Medical Wing, saw active participation from various distinguished professionals and organizations.

The highlight of the event was the keynote speaker, Dr. Suzanne Crowe, President of the Irish Medical Council. Dr Crowe spoke about Physician Wellbeing, the contribution of Pakistani doctors to Irish Healthcare and how things can be improved for Pakistani Doctors in Ireland.

The 3 hour long CME session welcomed numerous healthcare professionals, including doctors, physicians, and experts in the medical field. A notable presence was made by the Medical Protection Society (MPS), represented by Ms. Una Buckley, who discussed crucial topics related to medical practice and patient safety.

The event was a stimulating debate featuring Dr. Atiqa Rafiq, Dr. Sara Quidwai, Dr. Syed Adeel Zafar, and Dr. Malik Maqsood Anwar, who delved into pressing issues in the healthcare industry, ranging from emerging medical technologies to healthcare delivery and quality improvement.

An expert panel discussion was another integral part of the CME session, featuring eminent healthcare professionals, including Dr. Khalid Khan, Dr. Sara Quidwai, Dr. Suzanne Crowe, Mr. Waqas Butt, Dr. Atiqa Rafiq, and Dr. Syed Adeel Zafar. The panel engaged in comprehensive discussions on various aspects of medical practice, healthcare policy, and strategies for better patient care.

To conclude the event, TD Jack Chambers, a prominent political figure in Ireland, expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani doctors for their invaluable contributions to the Irish healthcare system and economy. He commended their dedication and unwavering commitment to improving patient outcomes and healthcare standards in Ireland.

The Annual IPPA CME session served as a platform for medical professionals to exchange knowledge, insights, and best practices in the field of medicine. With a diverse range of topics and a dynamic group of participants, the event proved to be a tremendous success, promoting collaborative efforts in healthcare and further strengthening the bond between Ireland and Pakistan.

For the first time Pakistani junior and senior doctors had the opportunity to discuss their problems, the problems in Irish Healthcare and possible solutions with the President of the Irish Medical Council.
