Luton, (Special Correspondent) – Prominent Overseas Kashmiri leader and Chairman of the Mirpur International Airport Movement UK & Europe, Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban, has prepared a memorandum to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom. The memorandum highlights the key demands of the Overseas Kashmiri community.
Demand for Mirpur International Airport
The memorandum clearly states that the establishment of Mirpur International Airport remains the most longstanding and fundamental demand of the Overseas Kashmiri community. Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban welcomed the announcement and assurances made by the Government of Pakistan and Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif regarding this project. However, he urged the government to provide clarity on when the foundation stone of the airport will be laid and what progress has been made so far.
Need for Motorway and Railway in Azad Kashmir
The memorandum further stressed the demand for the construction of a motorway in Azad Kashmir and the laying of a railway line. According to Haji Qurban, these projects are essential for boosting economic activity in the region and will significantly improve public convenience.
Acknowledgement of Support
On this occasion, Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban also expressed gratitude to various dignitaries who have consistently highlighted the issues of the Overseas community. Among them are Pakistan’s High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal, Lord Qurban Hussain (Star of Quaid-i-Azam awardee), former President of Pakistan Press Club UK Shiraz Khan, renowned academic, journalist and columnist Shahzad Ali, along with other community leaders who continue to amplify the voice of Overseas Kashmiris and Pakistanis.
Hope for Practical Steps
He expressed optimism that the Government of Pakistan will soon take practical steps on these long-standing demands in order to further strengthen the trust and confidence of the Overseas Kashmiri community.
