London, (Shahzad Ali) __ Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, has made a compelling call for the international community to urgently address the unlawful and egregious repression faced by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In his strong address during a seminar/webinar organized by the Pakistan High Commission in London, Dr. Faisal commemorated “Youm-e-Istehsal” a day that marks India’s unilateral and illegal actions on August 5, 2019, when New Delhi abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in blatant violation of international law.
Prominent Figures Unite at Seminar: The event was graced by a multitude of distinguished guests, including: Lord Qurban Hussain (Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam), Lord Shaukat Shafaq Mohammad, Yasmin Qureshi MP, Liaqat Ali MBE, Chairman of the UK-Pakistan Kashmiri Councillors Forum, Khalid Mahmood, former MP, Dr. Sheikh Ramzy, Director of the Oxford Islamic Information Centre, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Deputy Mayor of Newham, Cllr Amjad Abbasi, Shamim Shawl, Ahmed Qureshi, Advocate Rehana Ali, Dr. Abida Rafiq. A significant number of Kashmiri community members from across the UK also participated.
Unwavering Call for Justice and International Action: The speakers unequivocally condemned India’s revocation of Article 370-A as an unconstitutional act of repression and expressed unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people. They demanded that India immediately cease its human rights violations in IIOJK and reinforced the necessity of resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Participants boldly proposed a comprehensive roadmap for coordinated outreach and advocacy efforts directed at the UK Parliament and international policymakers to secure a just resolution.
High Commissioner Stresses Unity and Resilience: In his keynote address, Dr. Mohammad Faisal highlighted the critical importance of unity among Kashmiris and Pakistanis worldwide in effectively championing the Kashmir cause. He strongly condemned India’s brutal tactics in the region, including the arbitrary detention of Hurriyat leaders, media blackouts, communication restrictions, enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings.
Dr. Faisal also underscored Pakistan’s steadfast national support for its armed forces during operations Bunyan Al-Marsoos, which led to the decisive success of Marka-e-Haq.
Photo Exhibition and Tribute to Martyrs: Leading up to the seminar, the High Commission organized a powerful photo exhibition documenting the atrocities committed by Indian occupying forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The stark images served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing human rights crisis and the urgent necessity for a peaceful resolution that aligns with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The event concluded with a minute of silence in honor of Kashmiri martyrs, paying tribute to their significant sacrifices in the relentless struggle for freedom.
