Brussels: Imam Hussain’s (AS) Sacrifice is a Guiding Light for All Freedom Seekers – Chair’s KCEU Ali Raza Syed

Brussels, (Hafiz Unib Rashid) __ The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) Ali Raza Syed stated that Imam Hussain’s (AS) Sacrifice is a guiding light for all freedom seekers.

In a statement on Ashura he said, the Day of Ashura teaches us the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his unwavering stand for truth and justice. Today, the people of Kashmir are standing firm against Indian oppression with the spirit learned from Karbala.

Ali Raza Syed said that the Kashmiri people have learned from Karbala that the path of truth demands sacrifices. So far, a large number of Kashmiris have laid down their lives, while many remain forcibly disappeared or imprisoned.

Ali Raza Syed emphasized that Imam Hussain (AS) safeguarded human values through his supreme sacrifice. The tragedy of Karbala teaches us to uphold human dignity and protect fundamental rights. Karbala symbolizes resistance against tyranny and is a lesson in the pursuit of freedom.

Chair of KCEU added, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, inspired by Karbala’s eternal message, are struggling for the liberation of their homeland, which remains under Indian military occupation for a long time.

He noted that the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir, who have endured India’s prolonged siege, violence, brutality, and mass arrests, have drawn profound lessons from Imam Hussain (a.s) and the tragedy of Karbala.

Despite India’s military occupation and atrocities in Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri people continue to fearlessly fight for their right to self-determination.

He called upon the international community to take action to end the oppression of Kashmiris, secure the release of Kashmiri prisoners, and play a constructive role in achieving a just resolution to the Kashmir issue.

He highlighted that among the detained and imprisoned Kashmiris are prominent resistance leaders such as Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party; Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front; and renowned human rights activist Khurram Parvez. He particularly stressed that Shabbir Ahmed Shah is critically ill and urged the international community, especially the European Union and the United Nations, to pressure India for his immediate release, along with other political prisoners.
