BRUSSELS, (Unib Rashid) – Pakistan hockey legend, Olympian and former captain Shahbaz Ahmed Senior presented the Player of the Tournament award to Tomas Domene at the final of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 in Belgium.
Shahbaz Ahmed Senior was invited by the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 management to attend the final as an FIH Legend and present the prestigious award to the Player of the Tournament.
Under Shahbaz Senior’s captaincy, Pakistan won the 1994 Hockey World Cup.

The grand final of the 2026 Hockey World Cup was played between Spain and Germany at the Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre, Belgium. Germany defeated Spain by a one-goal margin to lift the World Cup title.
With this victory, Germany became the second country after Pakistan in hockey history to win the World Cup four times.
Shahbaz Ahmed Senior described the invitation as a great honour for himself and Pakistan, saying that it was recognition of Pakistan’s proud and distinguished legacy in international hockey.

Pakistan also returned to the Hockey World Cup after a long absence. The national team finished 11th in the tournament in terms of overall performance.
The final was attended by Belgium’s King Philippe as the chief guest.
