UN Secretary-General Candidate Macky Sall Meets PM Shehbaz Sharif, Discusses Multilateral Cooperation.

Brussels/Islamabad, (Unib Rashid) – Candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Macky Sall, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Friday, where both leaders discussed the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation and the central role of the United Nations in addressing global challenges.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and reiterated the country’s strong support for the United Nations as the cornerstone of international peace, security, and development.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the next UN Secretary-General would continue to advance the organization’s three core pillars—peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights—in a balanced, inclusive, and effective manner.

He also underscored Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, emphasizing the importance of the faithful implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, adherence to international law, and respect for international treaties as essential foundations for global peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

Mr. Macky Sall thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s warm welcome and expressed deep appreciation for the country’s longstanding contributions to the United Nations. He praised Pakistan’s leadership for its constructive role in promoting international peace and supporting multilateral diplomacy.

The meeting reflected Pakistan’s continued engagement with the United Nations and its commitment to strengthening international cooperation in addressing global challenges through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law.
