LONDON, (Unib Rashid) – British Member of Parliament Afzal Khan has welcomed the signing of the first free trade agreement between the United Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), describing it as a “historic day” for economic cooperation between Britain and Gulf Arab nations.

Speaking after the agreement was announced, Afzal Khan, who serves as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Bahrain, said the landmark deal would deepen relations between the UK and several Gulf states by enhancing trade and investment opportunities.

He stated that the agreement is expected to provide a significant boost to key British industries, including luxury automobiles, financial services, food and beverages, and industrial goods. According to Khan, the deal comes at a crucial time as the global economy continues to face uncertainty and economic challenges.

Afzal Khan praised the UK government for prioritizing free trade agreements with what he described as some of Britain’s most important strategic partners.
