Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ A five-day exhibition of the pictorial book “Kashmir: Wait and See” authored by European photojournalist Cedric Gerbehaye will begin on Thursday, February 5th, at the National College of Arts in Lahore, the capital of Punjab.
Prior to this, book exhibition and it’s introductory events have already been held in recent days in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, and the capital of Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad.
The book’s author, Cedric Gerbehaye; Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed; Dutch human rights activist Marjan Locas; Hungarian intellectual Andre Barcs; along with important political, diplomatic personalities, and high officials from Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were present during the book’s introductory events and exhibition.
Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed, who is in Lahore for this book introduction and exhibition series, stated in a message on this occasion that today, February 5th, is Kashmir Solidarity Day. We hold this exhibition today in Lahore, the Pakistan’s cultural heart and the soul of Punjab, so that the pain of Kashmiris can be felt through the images in this book. He urged all oppressed nations of the world and all people with humanitarian sympathy to feel the sufferings and miseries of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir and express solidarity with them.
Cedric Gerbehaye, who is from Belgium, completed his pictorial book on Kashmir over the past eight years. It includes detailed images from the occupied Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The book also contains images of victims of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, particularly those injured by pellet guns, and residents of Azad Kashmir living near the Line of Control who have been targeted by unprovoked gunfire committed by Indian border security forces. The book also reflects the daily life and culture of people from both parts of Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan. The Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) played a key role from the project’s inception to its completion and in organizing related events.
Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed, further stated that Kashmiris are struggling for their right to self-determination, and this struggle will continue until this right is achieved, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
He emphasized that a plebiscite under United Nations supervision should be held in all regions of Jammu and Kashmir so that Kashmiris can decide their own future.
He appealed that the Kashmir issue should be resolved peacefully according to the wishes of the Kashmiris, and the international community must play an effective role in this regard.
