Karachi, (TW News) — Acting on credible intelligence, security forces successfully foiled a major terror plot in Karachi after safely neutralizing a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) and a large cache of explosives in the general area of Raees Goth.
According to officials, the operation led to the neutralization of a mini truck VBIED loaded with 60 plastic drums filled with explosives and five metallic gas cylinders, carrying an estimated 2,000 kilograms of explosive material. In addition, a significant quantity of explosives was recovered from within the compound, including six sacks containing 40 kilograms each of homemade explosives.
Security sources disclosed that the explosive devices were being prepared for a potential terrorist attack targeting Dolmen Mall, Karachi.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team conducted the operation using standard safety and neutralization procedures, including area isolation, canine checks, and the use of Hook and Line equipment, ensuring the safe removal and rendering of all explosive material harmless.
Authorities confirmed that the timely intelligence-based operation prevented a large-scale terrorist incident. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in planning the attack.
