Mirpur, February 5, 2024 (TW) : The Global Pakistan Kashmir Council, Azad Kashmir, in collaboration with Allama Iqbal University, Mirpur, organized a seminar at Allama Iqbal Chaudhry University, Mirpur, to commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5th. The event aimed to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters enduring hardships under oppressive circumstances.
The seminar, held at Allama Iqbal Open University, commenced with the auspicious name of Allah. Journalist Zahoor Rasheed recited the Holy Quran, followed by Amrina Maqbool, who delivered a melodious rendition of Naat Rasool ﷺ, representing occupied Kashmir.
Syed Shabbir Ahmed, President of Global Pakistan Kashmir Council, Azad Kashmir Chapter, extended a warm welcome to the participants and provided insights into the objectives and endeavors of the organization. He highlighted the presence of the Indian Embassy in London during Kashmir Solidarity Day, underscoring the global significance of the occasion.
Faisal Shahzad, Regional Director Allama Iqbal Open University and the host of the ceremony emphasize on highlight the issue of Kashmir globally even for the thousands year till it resolve on the desires of the Kashmiri people.
Distinguished speakers, including Raja Abdul Rehman, Vice President of the organization, shed light on the historical context of Kashmir and India’s relentless aggression in occupied Kashmir. The seminar also emphasized the pivotal role of social media in raising awareness and mobilizing support for the Kashmiri cause.
Farrukh Owais, the district education officer representing the Education sector, emphasized the need for robust advocacy to strengthen Kashmir’s position and lauded the efforts of Mirpur Municipality Deputy Mayor Mumtaz Iqbal and journalist Muhammad Ramzan Chaghatai for their support.
The seminar witnessed the participation of eminent personalities from various fields, including educationist Mirza Farooq Jaral, who shared poignant verses on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
The cheif guest of the event, Mr Shaukat Ali commended the collaborative efforts of the organization and Allama Iqbal University in advocating for Kashmiri rights and urged global solidarity for a resolution to the Kashmir issue.
Retired Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir Gov. Shaukat Majeed Malik underscored the importance of international intervention, urging the International Court of Justice to address the plight of Kashmiris and ensure stability in the region.
The event attracted a diverse audience, including civil society representatives and foreign journalists. Notable attendees included poet Ali Asad, General Professor Arar Chaudhary, and Prime Minister Altaf Hamid Rao, among others.
