OSLO : Pakistan street child football team for the upcoming Norway Cup has been announced on Tuesday.
A 14-member team will participate in the Norway Cup which will start on July 30 in Oslo, Norway.
Tufail Shinwari, who was named best player in the Street Child World Cup in Doha, Qatar, last year, is also among the announced squad members.
Squad
Forwards: Tufail Shinwari, Faisal, Shahmir Ali, Saud
Midfielders: Abdul Wahab, Mohammad Ali, Ali Asif, Ahmad Raza
Defenders: Mohammad Adeel, Abid Ali, Obaidullah, Asad Nasir
Goalkeepers: Abdullah, Sahil
Pakistan will play their first match against Norwegian club Frigg Oslo on July 30.
It must be noted here that Pakistan team finished runners-up in the Street Child World Cup in Doha last year. They remained unbeaten throughout the tournament but lost the final against Egypt on penalties (4-3).
They were also the runners-up in the previous edition in Russia (2018), meanwhile in Brazil (2014) they finished third.
It must be noted that Pakistan have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup, and the men’s national team is currently ranked 201st.
