London (special correspondence): Thurrock Council’s cabinet member for culture and communities, Cllr Qaisar Abbas was given ‘Humanity Award’ in a special ceremony by the NASFAT UK & Ireland. The ceremony was held in Grays.
NASFAT’s chairman and secretary of board of trustees presented award to Cllr Abbas and said, “Cllr Abbas secured first Muslim cemetery in Thurrock and organised seminars for our students in Saudi Arabia during religious pilgrimage. He organised interfaith conference in Thurrock and working hard to bring different communities and faith groups together.”
On this occasion, Cllr Qaisar Abbas said “I am humbled and honoured to receive this award from NASFAT. I am very grateful and will continue my work to help and support different organisations and faith groups.”
It is important to note that Cllr Abbas has previously received dozens of awards from numerous local, national and international organisations for his social and political work.
