Livermore : In the city of Livermore, California, USA, Pakistani youth Bilal Shahid was declared a ‘city hero’ by the city mayor and city council for saving the lives of senior citizens.
In April this year, Pakistani youth Bilal Shahid saved the life of a 72-year-old senior citizen in the American city of Livermore, upon which the local police announced an award to the Pakistani youth.
An award ceremony for Pakistani youth was held at City Hall in Livermore, attended by many members of the city, including the Mayor, City Council and Police Chief Jeremy Young, as well as family members of senior citizens.
At the ceremony, the Pakistani youth was declared a hero of the city and honored.
Bilal Shahid was presented with a certificate by the city police chief and the hall erupted in applause. Family members of senior citizens thanked the Pakistani youth and gave gifts during the ceremony.
In this regard, Bilal Shahid, a young man from Pakistan, said, “I am honored to see the elderly alive with their families and by saving one life, I have saved the life of the entire mankind.”
Narrating the incident, the young man said that he went to a coffee shop with his wife and on the way he found the old man lying on the floor and called the emergency services when the old man did not respond to his calls.
In the emergency call, the operator asked to give CPR, when he told me that he did not know how to give CPR, the operator explained the procedure and started giving CPR, and the paramedics arrived within minutes.
Two weeks after the incident, the family of the senior citizen reached out to us in search of us and thanked us for helping us,” said Bilal Shahid.
It is worth noting that Bilal Shahid, who hails from Karachi, has been living in Livermore, USA for many years.
